About Still Mind
The Story
I sat my first 10-day Vipassana course and it changed everything. For those ten days, the technique was clear, the structure was there, and the practice felt alive. Then I went home.
Back in daily life, without the container of the retreat, I struggled. The motivation was there but the consistency was not. Some days I sat for an hour. Many days I didn’t sit at all. The gap between knowing the value of practice and actually maintaining it felt enormous.
I looked for tools to help — apps, timers, recordings. Nothing quite fit. Most meditation apps felt generic. The ones specific to this tradition were limited. I wanted something that understood the structure of a Vipassana sitting, that could generate fresh guidance, that could track my practice and keep me honest.
So I built Still Mind.
What This Is
Still Mind is an AI-powered practice support tool for meditation in the insight tradition. It generates personalized meditation sessions with spoken guidance, tracks your practice, and provides a library of contemplations to deepen your understanding.
It is not a replacement for proper instruction. If you have not attended a formal meditation course, I strongly encourage you to do so. The technique is best learned in person, with qualified teachers, in the supportive environment of a retreat.
This tool is for the days after — when you’re home, when it’s just you and the cushion, when the alarm goes off at 4:30am and the bed is warm and the mind says “maybe tomorrow.”
Built With
Still Mind is built with care using modern AI and web technologies. Meditation audio is generated using advanced text-to-speech, with a singing bowl bell synthesized from layered harmonics. The quote search uses semantic matching to find the right wisdom for your current state of mind.
The project is open to feedback. If you have suggestions, corrections, or just want to share your experience, I’d love to hear from you.
May your practice be fruitful.
